Situated Between Ashburn and Herndon

Dominion Station is belted by Route 625 to the south, Route 1794 to the east, Woodland Road to the north, and Atlantic Boulevard to the west. Potomac Falls and later the Potomac River border this neighborhood to the north, Ashburn is to the west, Oak Grove and Herndon are to the east, and the Dulles International Airport is to the south. Areas like the Algonkian Regional Park, Reston, and Leesburg are also a short drive away.

Vestal’s Gap Road

Vestal’s Gap Road and Lanesville Historic District is a national historic district located in Claude Moore Park, just east of the community. The site was listed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 2000 and encompasses one contributing building and one contributing structure. They are commonly referred to as Lanesville. This also includes a two-story side-gabled frame house on a solid stone-rubble foundation that was built around 1807, and a section of the former Vestal’s Gap Road, an 18th-century road. Other outhouses and structures located around the park include a barn, a well, a log cabin, a workhorse museum, and an outhouse.

Dulles International Airport

This airport sits just south of the community and serves the Washington, DC area, with a main terminal famously designed by Eero Saarinen. Dulles is the busiest airport in the DC metropolitan area and can be reached by car or by mass transportation. Fairfax Connector, among other bus routes, services the airport while construction is underway to link the airport to the Washington Metro Silver Line. Route 28 runs alongside Dominion Station and acts as the major north-south route in the area. Driving southbound will take you beyond the airport and into areas like Chantilly and Centreville.

Dominion Station is somewhat of a late-bloomer considering the surrounding recent growth of Sterling. The community has features unique to the region, including large lots, highly wooded old-growth trees, and a wide variety of housing.
